Tahoe Reno Industrial Center Effluent Pipeline, Washoe & Storey Counties, NV
The Tahoe Reno Industrial Center is the largest industrial park in the world encompassing more than 15,000 acres of pre-zoned, fully entitled land for development. The center has a unified framework of water and wastewater systems. To meet the needs of the industrial park users, an effluent pipeline is being evaluated to connect this property in Storey County with the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility in Washoe County. The 13-mile effluent pipeline would resolve short- and long-term load and capacity issues, improve water quality, and facilitate future economic development. CME provided recommendations for the design and construction of the proposed pipeline. Services included:
- Geotechnical Investigation
- Engineering Analysis and Recommendations
- Soils Testing
- Groundwater Evaluation
KEY CHALLENGES
- Challenging terrain and limited access over 13 miles
- Incorporated innovative drilling techniques and deployed special equipment for rock coring
- Coordination with multiple land owners and railroad companies to obtain permission to access properties
