Following adoption by the Reno City Council, new building and construction codes are now in effect on a voluntary basis. The newly adopted codes and standards include the 2018 International Building Code (IBC) and 2018 International Residential Code (IRC). Compliance with the codes will be mandatory in local jurisdictions beginning July 1, 2019. This region-wide effort with the development industry and local jurisdictions allows our area to keep safety standards and building and energy efficiency practices up to date so we can build communities that are safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient. CME continues to play an active role in local professional organizations to stay at the forefront of industry change.
